Interactive scales working

I’ve managed to get the interactive scales prototype working using Flash-Fiducials-Arduino. Below is a video of it.

From here I’m going to have to get content that it can be used to get people to interact with it

The general idea is that the scales are used to balance out the supernatural threat that faced people in rural Ireland. When dairying/farming/making butter, people had a lot of superstitions that they followed in order to ensure a positive outcome to their actions.

They would sing songs when they were milking the cow, recite prayers and incantations when they were churning, plant house-leeks on the roof to avoid sore throats, etc.

So, on one side of the scales there would be the supernatural threat, which is out weighing the superstitious precautions that  have been taken. To ensure a good outcome, people in the museum have to use different tokens (the tokens represent precautions) to balance the good and evil.

Again, serious hat tip to these two people :

This is an absolutely great blog post on how to get Flash&Fiducials going http://openurbanism.blogspot.ie/2012/06/getting-started-with-tuio-reactivision.html https://twitter.com/arielstorm

This blog post was brilliant in getting Flash connected to Arduino http://www.mikechambers.com/blog/2010/08/04/getting-started-with-flash-and-arduino/
